Care guide / Selvedge & Raw Denim
How to care for our Selvedge and Raw Denim Jeans:
Information about the material:
• The fabric shapes to your body when you wear it – creases, wear, and color changes happen naturally over time.
• The untreated surface makes the product very strong and hard to damage or tear.
Raw denim gives off extra dye (indigo), this is called “bleeding”. It can rub off on light furniture, shoes, bags, and clothing. Be careful with white sneakers or t-shirts, especially the first 4–8 times you wear them.
Because of this, we recommend washing the jeans carefully – and ONLY when really needed!
These things can be done instead of washing:
• Hang them outside overnight to air out.
• Put them in the freezer in a plastic bag for 24–48 hours to remove smell-causing bacteria.
The best way to wash the jeans – hand wash
• Wash in a basin or bathtub with cold water
Steps:
1. Turn the denim inside out
2. Fill the basin with cold water
3. Soak the jeans for 30 minutes – MAX 45 minutes
4. Move them gently in the water
5. Rinse well with cold water
6. Gently press out the water (do not twist!)
7. Hang to dry, not in direct sunlight
Please note that because the material is very “raw” and untreated, it takes time for the jeans to shape and stop feeling stiff!
So we recommend washing the jeans no earlier than 3 months after first use.
